India vs West Indies: A complete all-round performance helped India defeat West Indies by six wickets in the 1st T20I at Eden Gardens, Kolkata to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. 

Chasing 158, Rohit Sharma gave India a terrific start as he smacked 40 runs in just 19 balls. The hosts smashed 58 runs in the powerplay and 64 runs for the opening wicket in 45 balls.

Ishan Kishan struggled to time the ball as he scored 35 runs in 42 balls with just four boundaries in the innings. Virat Kohli looked good for his 17 in 13 balls but got caught while attempting a maximum against Fabian Allen. 

India lost three wickets in quick succession after Rishabh Pant too got out scoring just eight and it seemed that the game might have a tight finish. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer added 48 runs in the next 26 balls to finish the game for India without any further hiccups. 

Suryakumar remained unbeaten at 34 in 18 balls while Venky Iyer scored 24 off 13 balls as India took the lead in three-game series. 
Earlier, India opted to bowl first and gave Ravi Bishnoi a T20I debut. Bhuvneshwar Kumar got India the first wicket in the first over itself. 

However, West Indies continued to attack but at the same time lost wickets at regular intervals. Nicholas Pooran rotated the strike to keep one end in check. 

Pooran added 47 in 36 balls with Kyle Mayers for the second wicket and 45 off 25 balls for the seventh wicket to help West Indies get past the 150-run mark. Pooran top-scored with 61 in 43 balls as Windies ended the innings at 157/7. 

For India, Bishnoi and Harshal took two wickets each while the rest of the bowlers got one wicket each.
