Sri Lankan batters fought hard in the first session as they reached 151/4 in the first session of day three of the Pink Ball Test at Bengaluru's M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Resuming the day at 28/1, overnight batters Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis began positively. The duo kept rotating the strike and finding boundaries to frustrate the Indians.

Just when Dhananjaya de Silva started to settle down, Ashwin got him caught at short leg where Hanuma Vihari grabbed a sharp catch. With this wicket, Ashwin also surpassed Dale Steyn's tally of 439 test wickets to become the 8th highest wicket-taker in test cricket.

Karunaratne kept fighting and reached his fifty. He added 46 runs for the fifth wicket with Niroshan Dickwella before the Tea was taken.

Sri Lanka still need 296 runs while the Indian team is six wickets away to win the second test match.
