‘If I can inspire even 10 percent girls to play cricket, I’ll be proud’: Mandhana (‘If I can inspire even 10 percent girls to play cricket, I’ll be proud’: Mandhana)
Hong Kong China: India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana believes her biggest measure of success will not be the records she breaks but the number of young girls she can inspire to pick up a bat and ball and dream of playing cricket for India.
Mandhana made history with a breathtaking 124 off 64 balls against Hong Kong China in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup on Thursday, becoming the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket after surpassing former India captain Mithali Raj’s tally of 10,868 runs.
However, reflecting on her record-breaking performance, Mandhana said she has never viewed personal milestones as the ultimate measure of her career.
