Former England middle-order batter Jonathan Trott will take over as Afghanistan cricket team's head coach from the tour of Ireland in August, after the country's board announced the appointment of the 41-year-old on Saturday.
Trott, who played over 200 international matches for England including 52 Tests and 68 ODIs, worked as a batting coach for the senior England men's team on their tour of India in 2021. He was also a mentor and batting coach for the under-19 team.
He was also a part of the England Lions' coaching contingent, which accompanied the Test side for the Ashes in Australia, serving as their batting consultant.
