Delhi Capitals Thrash Punjab Kings By 9 Wickets

Delhi Capitals registered the third win of the IPL 2022.

An all-round complete performance helped Delhi Capitals defeat Punjab Kings by nine wickets to register the third win of the IPL 2022 after six matches. 

Chasing a modest total of 116, DC openers - Prithvi Shaw and David Warner - smashed the highest powerplay total of the season - 81/0. Shaw smacked 41 runs in 20 balls with the help of seven fours and a six. 

The duo added 83 runs in just 39 balls to completely push Punjab out of the game. Rahul Chahar for Shaw out in the seventh over but it didn't matter to Warner, who continued to toy with the PBKS attack. 

Sarfaraz Khan was sent in at number three and he, along with Warner, finished the game in the 11th over. Warner remained unbeaten on 60 in 30 balls with the help of 10 fours and a six while Sarfaraz made 12 off 13. 

Earlier, Punjab Kings got bowled out for 115 in the first inning courtesy of disciplined bowling by the Delhi bowlers. 

After a quick start of 33 runs in just 3.4 overs, Punjab kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Jitesh Sharma was the highest scorer for Punjab - 32 off 23 balls including five fours - followed by Mayank Agarwal's 24 off 15. 

For DC, Khaleel Ahmed, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets each while Mustafizur Rahman got one wicket to his name. 

The beginning of the game had a lot of uncertainty as Delhi Capitals' camp had a few covid positive cases with Tim Seifert being the latest on the list after Mitchell Marsh and a few support staff members.
