AUS vs IRE T20 World Cup 2022: Australian bowlers made a mess out of the Irish batting as they halted them to 137/10 in 18.1 overs, winning the match by 42 runs. However, the win has still kept Australia behind England in Group 1 on Net Run Rate. 

Chasing 180 runs to win, Ireland lost both experienced openers - Paul Stirling (11) and Andrew Balbirnie (6) inside the first three overs. Harry Tector (6) and George Dockrell (0) were also dismissed inside the powerplay as Ireland were restricted to 25/5.

However, Lorcan Tucker was the lone ranger as he remained on the crease unbeaten, and scored 71* runs off 48 balls. Tucker smacked 9 fours & a six in his knock but lack of support from other Irish batters eventually resulted in a loss. 

For Australia, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Glenn Maxwell & Pat Cummins managed 2 wickets each while Marcus Stoinis also picked up a wicket.

In the first innings, Skipper Finch's fifty takes Australia to a good total of 179/5 runs against Ireland in an important fixture of Group A for both teams here at the Gabba.

After losing the toss Australian captain Aaron Finch smashed his first half-century of the tournament at a strike rate of 143.18 with 63 runs in 44 balls including 5 fours and 3 sixes.

Mitchell Marsh played big shots during powerplay and scored 28 runs in 22 balls with 2 fours and an equal number of sixes. In-form all-rounder Marcus Stoinis continued his form and made 35 runs off 25 balls by hitting 3 fours and 1 six.

Ireland in this match showed their ability to bowl well till the first 15 overs where they kept on pushing  Australia at the back with wickets at regular intervals and bowling in good line length.

Barry McCarthy was the bowler to watch out for as he scalped 3 important wickets by giving just 29 runs in 4 overs. Irish star bowler Joshua Little was the second-best bowler who put down 2 opponents back to the pavilion where he bowled at an economy of 5.25 and leaked just 21 runs.

The rest of the Irish bowlers weren't able to get any success for the team. Mark Adair was the costliest bowler who got smacked 58 runs in 4 overs.
