Australian Test captain Pat Cummins has hinted that his pace bowling partner Mitchell Starc could be promoted in the batting order in the fourth Ashes Test beginning here on Wednesday, after averaging more than 50 with the bat.
Starc has done a turnaround from a below-average performance at the ICC T20 World Cup, and is now averaging more than 50 with the bat and less than 20 with the ball, which could earn him a batting order promotion at the SCG.
Starc has scored 117 runs at an average of 58.50 in the Ashes campaign and has a better average than every England batter across the first three Tests. Add to it his 14 wickets at 19.64 apiece and it also makes him the leading wicket-taker in the series.
