July 29 (CRICKETNMORE) - India captain Virat Kohli hits his 17th Test hundred as visitors declared their second innings at 240 for 3 leaving Sri Lanka with a daunting target of 550 on the fourth day of the first cricket Test at Galle.This is Kohli's 10th Test ton as a captain.

Kohli has surpassed former India player Mohammed Azharuddin record of 9 Test tons as captain . This was also Kohli's sixth century as captain on the foreign soil, leaving behind cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar who had five tons in outside India.

Kohli has also completed 1000 runs as captain in Tests outside India. He is the quickest to reach there among Indians as he took just 17 innings. Tendulkar took 19 to reach 1000 Test runs as captain.

He equalled former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar's record of 17 hundreds in 116 Tests.
