Chittagong, July 25 - South African pace bowler Dale Steyn had fun playing barefooted football with local kids here after rain washed out the fourth day's play of the first Test between the Proteas and Bangladesh.

After spotting some kids playing football from his hotel room on Friday, the tear-away fast bowler tweeted: "Stuck in my room all day, watching these kids playing soccer in the rain looks like plenty fun... #shouldigo."

Almost an hour later the 32-year-old posted a video on Instagram showing him in a white sleeveless T-shirt, playing football with the kids on cement. Steyn even successfully managed to nutmeg a defender but some shouts in the video suggest he was not quite sure who his teammates were.

The South African caused an uproar earlier this year by saying that the Bangladesh tour was a waste of time for him and he would use the deliveries left in him for major tournaments, which created a buzz in the social media with Bangladesh supporters criticising the pacer for his choice of words.
