July 17 (CRICKETNMORE) - South Africa set England a mammoth target of 474 to win the second test after declaring its second innings on 343-9 on Sunday. England were 1/0 at stums on day three.
South Africa nearly had a wicket with the very first ball when Alastair Cook was given out lbw to Morne Morkel. But Cook immediately reviewed umpire Paul Reiffel’s decision and, with replays indicating the ball would have gone over the stumps, the former Australia paceman’s verdict was overturned.
Earlier, South Africa's big lead was built on second-innings half-centuries by opener Dean Elgar (80), Hashim Amla (87) and captain Faf du Plessis (63). Ali finished with 4-78 to lead England's bowling effort.
