Dec. 27 (CRICKETNMORE) - The South African pace attack exploited the conditions to restrict Sri Lanka to 181 for seven before bad light brought an early end to the second day's play in the first Test in Port Elizabeth.

Vernon Philander (3/35) struck thrice as Sri Lanka failed to capitalise on their impressive display with the ball. Sri Lanka are still trailing South Africa (286) by 105 runs in the first Test in Port Elizabeth.

Earlier Sri Lanka had wrapped up South Africa's first innings swiftly in the morning, taking four wickets for 19 runs in less than 10 overs. Suranga Lakmal took his first five-wicket haul.
