Mumbai, Jan 9 (IANS) Mumbai Indians have secured the services of former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond as bowling coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 season.

"The 39-year-old Shane, currently serving as bowling coach of the New Zealand national team, will join in the ranks of Mumbai Indians’ support staff along with former Australian great Ricky Ponting (head coach), Jonty Rhodes (fielding coach) and Robin Singh (batting coach)," the franchise said in a release Friday.

Shane is no stranger to the IPL, having played during 2010 season with Kolkata Knight Riders. He is hopeful to settle quickly in his new role and the challenges of the league.

Commenting on his upcoming assignment, Shane said: “It is my privilege to be associated with the most highly regarded franchise in IPL. I look forward to bring in my cricketing experience to work along with Ricky and the team.”
