Mohali, May 11 (IANS) Indian Premier League (IPL) outfit Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Monday released batsman Shaun Marsh and pacer Mitchell Johnson so that they can prepare ahead of Australia's tour of the West Indies.

"Two of our players Shaun Marsh and Mitchell Johnson have been granted permission to return home at their request for preparation of the upcoming West Indies Tour," KXIP said in a statement.

"While both the players have been of great significance to the team and contributed immensely, we respect our players’ decisions."

KXIP are languishing at the bottom of the table with only two wins from 11 matches and are out of race to qualify for the play-offs.

However, the George Bailey-captained side that its has a strong squad to make up for the Australian duo's absence.

"We have a fine line up in place and are hopeful of a good performance in the upcoming matches.”

KXIP face fifth placed Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday.
