Mumbai, April 15 (IANS) Despite getting off to a poor start, Mumbai Indians coach Ricky Ponting on Wednesday said the team has displayed glimpses of good cricket in the previous matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and a really promising performance is just around the corner.

Mumbai Indians lost to Rajasthan Royals in Ahmedabad by seven wickets on Tuesday. Earlier, they were beaten by Kings XI Punjab at home by 18 runs and by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL-8 opener in Kolkata by seven wickets.

"We have shown glimpses of some very good cricket in the past three matches. We have to make sure we do that throughout the 40 overs and not 25-30 overs. I have got the feeling that there is a really good performance just around the corner," Ponting said at an event here.

The 40-year-old said the side is lacking confidence at this point of time but needs to be at their best against Chennai Super Kings here on Friday.

"We are lacking a bit of confidence as a group at the moment. We obviously haven't got off to a great start. As a group we have to make sure we work really hard. We play a very good Chennai team in a few days. We have to be at out best to win the game against Chennai," Ponting said.
