Feb.18 (CRICKETNMORE) - South Africa superstar AB DeVilliers is eyeing former Indian left-hander Sourav Ganguly's record in upcoming ODI Seriess against New Zealand tour. De Villiers need 87 runs more to become the fastest player to score 9000 runs in the 50-over game, a record currently held by former India captain Sourav Ganguly. Ganguly achieved the milestone in 228 innings

South Africa will play five matches in the New Zealand tour and DeVilliers has a good chance to achive this milestone as the right-hander boasts a superb record in the country. He has made 571 runs at 142.75, with a century and four fifties.

Currently, the 32-year-old has played 202 ODI innings, and is averaging a staggering 53.69 – the highest of any batsman to have played 50-plus matches.
