In the finals of the Big Bash League (BBL) between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers, Sixers' Jay Lenton once again took the field as the wicketkeeper in the absence of Josh Philippe. However, in this match, Lenton inflicted his maiden dismissal this season as a wicketkeeper and followed it with a lightning stumping.

Perth Scorchers were put in to bat first by the Sydney Sixers, and Kurtin Patterson and Josh Inglish opened the innings for the Scorchers. Sixers struck the first blow in the second over as Patterson top-edged a short of length delivery by Jackson Bird. The ball angled across the left-handed Patterson, and as the batter shuffled across to play the pull shot, he closed the bat-face early and ball took the edge.

Sydney Sixers' wicketkeeper Jay Lenton, who was just an assistant coach just 3 days back, called for the catch. The ball went very high in the air, and Lenton settled under it to complete the catch.

In the 5th over, however, Lenton showed impressive wicket-keeping skills. Steven OKeefe bowled a brilliant flight. It was a slower delivery that spun away from outside off and dragged Inglish forward on the drive. The delivery beat him on the outside edge and Jay Lenton displayed brilliant work behind the stumps as he dislodged the bails in a whiff.

Josh Inglish failed to bring back his foot in the crease in time and was on the line as Lenton inflicted the stumping. Jay Lenton came to the team's aide at the last moment, just before the Challenger match against the Adelaide Strikers. Even though he didn't manage to inflict a single dismissal in that match, he has repaid the team's trust by inflicting dismissals on the top 2 batters of the opposition in the finals.
