March 16 (CRICKETNMORE) - South Africa were 24-2 at stumps on the opening day of their second test against New Zealand at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. The Proteas earlier had dismissed the Black Caps for 268 in their first innings during the third session.
South Africa are still trailing by 244 runs with both the openers Stephen Cook and Dean Elgar went early in the innings. For the homeside, middle-order batsman Henry Nicholls scored his maiden Test century before he was dismissed for 118 on the bowling of JP Duminy. Duminy took 4 for 47.
