Christchurch, Jan 25 (CRICKETNMORE) Coach Chandika Hathurusingha has said Bangladesh have shown encouraging signs of improvement on their New Zealand tour though the result does not reflect any.

New Zealand crushed Bangladesh by nine wickets in the second Test with a day in hand in Christchurch.

"I am happy with their performance," he said after the meeting. "It is not all doom and gloom. There are a lot of positives to build on."

"The result (of the series) is frustrating. We didn't win any match. We couldn't play well long enough to win a match. Doing well in conditions where we don't play too much is something very positive. I am happy that they have been able to make progress, though the result does not reflect that."

"This experience will help Bangladesh cricket and will help these players to do much better in the future," he added.

Limited overs captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and even Tamim Iqbal, stand-in captain in the second Test, were apparently all satisfied to have been able to create opportunities for wins.

The conditions make it difficult for teams from the sub-continent to create chances of victory in New Zealand.

The conditions were much different in new Zealand from what Hathurusingha's disciples are used to. But the weather was quite pleasant while the wicket, too, assisted the batsmen throughout the tour.
