India Women Beat England by Four Wickets in First ODI at Southampton
India Women registered a four-wicket victory over England in the first ODI of the three-match series at Southampton on Wednesday.
Opting to bat first, England posted 258/6 in 50 overs, with Sophia Dunkley (83) top-scoring, followed by Davidson Richards (53). For India, Sneh Rana and Kranti Goud took two wickets each.
In reply, Indian openers Smriti Mandhana (28) and Pratika Rawal (36) provided a solid start. Deepti Sharma’s unbeaten 62 and her 87-run partnership with Jemimah Rodrigues (48) turned the match in India’s favor. The visitors chased down the target with 10 balls to spare. Charlie Dean was England’s best bowler, finishing with figures of 2/52.
