K Nayudu Trophy: ईरानी कप या ईरानी ट्रॉफी मैच, जिसकी मेजबानी मुंबई को 1 से 5 अक्टूबर तक करनी थी, उसे खराब मानसून के कारण लखनऊ शिफ्ट करना पड़ा। इस कप में मात्र एक मैच खेला जाता है, जो गत रणजी ट्रॉफी विजेता और रेस्ट ऑफ इंडिया के बीच खेला जाता है। चलिए जानते हैं कि इस ट्रॉफी से जुड़ी क्या कहानी है? और इसकी शुरुआत कब हुई थी?
ईरानी कप भारत का एक घरेलू क्रिकेट टूर्नामेंट है, जो फर्स्ट क्लास फॉर्मेट के तहत खेला जाता है। यह क्रिकेट टूर्नामेंट हर साल वर्तमान रणजी ट्रॉफी विजेता टीम और रेस्ट ऑफ इंडिया टीम ( रणजी ट्रॉफी में अन्य टीमों के दमदार प्रदर्शन करने वाले खिलाड़ी) के बीच खेला जाता है। रेस्ट ऑफ इंडिया ने इसे 30 बार जीता है, जबकि मुंबई ने इसे 14 बार जीता है।
इसकी शुरुआत वर्ष 1959-60 में हुई थी। उस समय रणजी ट्रॉफी चैंपियनशिप के 25 वर्ष पूरे होने पर इस टूर्नामेंट की नींव रखी गई थी। इसका उद्देश्य घरेलू क्रिकेट को और अधिक रोचक और रोमांचक बनाना था। इस टूर्नामेंट का नाम बीसीसीआई के पूर्व प्रशासक जेडपी ईरानी के नाम पर रखा गया था, जो बीसीसीआई में लंबे समय तक अध्यक्ष और कोषाध्यक्ष समेत कई अहम पदों पर रहे।
