TRAU FC Edge Indian Navy 2-1 To End Durand Cup Campaign On High
Khuman Lampak Main Stadium: Afridi Buyamayum scored twice, including a stunning second-half winner, as TRAU FC overcame sustained pressure from Indian Navy FT to secure a 2-1 victory in their final Group D fixture of the Durand Cup at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium here on Sunday.
Buyamayum opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a spectacular curling effort before Khullakpam Zahir Khan equalised just 16 seconds after the restart. Buyamayum restored TRAU's lead in the 60th minute, and the Manipur side held on despite a relentless late assault from the Sailors.
Indian Navy dominated possession and finished with 26 attempts, including 15 on target, but TRAU's defence and goalkeeper Tajuddin repeatedly denied them. TRAU, meanwhile, managed just eight shots and two on target — both of which found the net.
