Enzo Le Fee: Aston Villa missed the chance to move second in the Premier League after a 1-0 home defeat to Everton.

Thierno Barry scored in the 57th minute for his third goal in four games to settle the match after an error by Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

The loss ended Villa's run of 11 straight home wins and left Unai Emery's side behind Arsenal and Manchester City in the table, reports Xinhua.

Newcastle United also missed an opportunity to move into the top five as it was held 0-0 away to Wolverhampton in Sunday's second game.

Newcastle created chances but could not score, while Wolves extended its improved run under coach Rob Edwards to four matches, with three draws and a win.

Earlier, Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-0 in the Manchester derby to give interim coach Michael Carrick a winning start.

Arsenal extended its lead over Manchester City to seven points but was held to a draw by Nottingham Forest after a strong defensive display by the home side. Goals from Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez gave Chelsea a 2-0 home win over Brentford.

Florian Wirtz scored again for Liverpool, but Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dubravka kept the home side at bay as Marcus Edwards struck to earn the Premier League struggler a point.
