American Frances Tiafoe: USA's top-ranked player Ben Shelton said he is ready for the US Open final against current Roland Garros champion Alexander Zverev after defeating fellow American Frances Tiafoe in the semi-final.
Shelton came back from a set down to beat Tiafoe 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 at a packed Arthur Ashe Stadium, with several celebrities in attendance. Shelton reached his first Grand Slam final, where he will face 2020 New York runner-up Zverev, who beat Karen Khachanov in the other semifinal.
"I think that I'm fully ready for the challenge to problem-solve. And, yeah, I feel that I'm a different player. I feel I have so many more tools," Shelton told the media in the post-match press conference after his semifinal win.
