USTA Billie Jean King National: With the main draw of the US Open all set to kick off on Sunday, players have raised complaints over the smell of cannabis in New York, where it is legal for adults aged 21 or over.
Britain's No.1 player Katie Boulter was among those who spoke up against the smell that wafts into some of the outside courts from Corona Park nearby. Boulter, World No.60, is all set to open her campaign against USA wildcard Carol Young Suh Lee as she stated that she can smell the cannabis "a lot" during her practice sessions.
"I'm not a huge fan of it," said Boulter. "I know a lot of players have complained on some of the specific courts. I've played on one before, and I did smell it during my match. It's something that I wouldn't like to smell in the middle of my match.
