Lausanne, Switzerland, Local interest is set to rocket for the upcoming World Boxing Tour Golden Belt Series tournament in Marrakesh after the International Boxing Association confirmed that a significant number of elite Moroccan competitors will be stepping into the ring.
The highly anticipated event, which will take place from February 2-10, will shine a global spotlight on boxing in the North African country like never before, giving passionate Moroccan spectators the chance to roar on their compatriots in their bids for glory.
In the men's competition, Mohamed Hamout, a gold medal-winner at the 2015 African Championships and 2022 Mediterranean Games, will compete in the lightweight division. Meanwhile in the women's competition, heavyweight Khadija Mardi will seek to build on her inspirational journey, which led last year to a silver at the IBA World Championships and a gold at the AFBC African Championships.
