Rising India star Manas Dhamne put up a gutsy show on his ATP Tour debut but slumped to a straight sets defeat against the World No. 113 Michael Mmoh 2-6, 4-6 in the singles opening round match of the Tata Open Maharashtra at the Balewadi Stadium here on Monday.
The 15-year-old tennis prodigy began the match confidently and even bagged the opening game of the match aggressively by conceding just a point against the 24-year-old American. The Pune-born talented youngster was handed a wildcard at South Asia's only ATP 250 event for his impressive performances recently.
In other Round-of-32 singles matches, Roberto Carballes Baena beat Bernabe Zapata Miralles 6-1, 7-5 whereas Benjamin Bonzi outperformed Chun-Hsin Tseng 6-0, 6-3 comfortably to enter the second round.
