Southern Brave is a leading franchise in The Hundred, the ECB’s innovative 100-ball cricket competition, based in Southampton and representing the historic counties of Hampshire and Sussex.
Launched ahead of the tournament’s inaugural 2021 season, the franchise quickly established itself as one of the standout teams in the competition. The team play their home matches at the iconic Utilita Bowl (formerly the Rose Bowl), the home of Hampshire County Cricket Club, located just outside Southampton.
The franchise entered a significant new chapter in 2025 during the ECB’s landmark Hundred investment process. Hampshire County Cricket Club retained a majority 51% stake in Southern Brave, while the remaining 49% was acquired by India’s GMR Group through an auction sale. Known globally for its involvement in sports ownership, GMR officially assumed operational control of the franchise on October 1, 2025, marking the beginning of a new era for Southern Brave both on and off the field.
