Reliance Foundation Development League: Bengaluru FC's continued faith has given Soham Varshneya renewed motivation, with the youngster vowing to repay the club's belief after extending his stay. Varshneya said he remains “happy, focused” and ready to give his all for the club as he looks forward to being part of its next chapter.

Bengaluru FC on Friday announced that midfielder Varshneya has signed a contract extension with the club, keeping him at the Blues until the end of the 2028-29 season.

The 22-year-old midfielder featured eight times for Bengaluru FC during the 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) season and provided one assist.

Speaking after extending his stay with the club, Varshneya said, “This club has always believed in me, and I believe in what we are building here. I'm happy, focused, and ready to give everything for Bengaluru FC.”

Varshneya joined the club’s Reserve Team ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. The side finished fourth in the BDFA Super Division and also reached the Zonal Round of the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL).

He enjoyed an impressive campaign, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists in 24 appearances across competitions. His performances earned him the BFC ‘B’ Team Player of the Year award for the 2024-25 season.

Varshneya made his ISL debut against Mumbai City FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on the final matchday of the 2025 league stage.

His progress at club level also earned him a place in the India U-23 setup. He made his national-team debut during the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers in Qatar in September 2025.

Bengaluru FC head coach Pep Munoz backed the midfielder to continue developing, highlighting the qualities that have helped him make his way through the club’s system.

Varshneya’s rise has been marked by his composure in possession and maturity in midfield. Having progressed through Bengaluru FC’s developmental setup into the senior team and the India U-23 side, he will now look to build on that momentum as he continues his journey with the Blues.
