KIYG 2022: Can Adriyan Karmakar, Boys' 3P gold medallist, go one better than his illustrious father? (Image Source: IANS)
Joydeep Karmakar, who had missed out on an Olympics bronze in the 50 metres rifle prone event in London 2012, was following the rifle shooting competitions at the Khelo India Youth Games 2022 with a lot of interest here on Sunday.
His interest was expected as Joydeep Karmakar is currently the chief rifle coach of the Indian shooting team. But there was a personal reason too for his interest -- his 17-year-old son Adriyan Karmakar was competing at the M.P Shooting Academy ranges here.
Adriyan, however, showed no signs of any pressure as he emerged victorious in the tough 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P) Boys competition at the Khelo India Youth Games 2022 Madhya Pradesh (KIYG). He got the better of Rajasthan's Manvendra Singh Shekhawat 16-12.
