South Delhi Superstarz: Defending champions South Delhi Superstarz opened their 2026 Women's Delhi Premier League (DPL) campaign with a convincing 29-run victory over Central Delhi Queens, thanks to a crucial half-century from Tanisha Singh.

Tanisha top-scored with 64 and had a match-defining 82-run stand with Nishika Singh as Superstarz made 156/5 before restricting the Queens to 127/7. “I don't look at it as pressure; it’s a responsibility.

“The team made it clear that my role was to spend time at the crease, rotate the strike, and find ways to hit boundaries while helping my partner play freely. I backed my potential and knew that if I stayed out there, the runs would come,” she said in a statement by the tournament on Friday.

She also recalled how during her partnership with Nishika, the focus was on running between the wickets to break the rhythm of the opposition attack. “Nishika and I kept talking about spending as much time on the wicket as possible and milking singles.

“Singles put a different kind of pressure on the bowler, forcing them to bowl loose deliveries. Once we got a boundary early in the over, we knew how to capitalize and turn it into a big over.”

She also recalled how during her partnership with Nishika, the focus was on running between the wickets to break the rhythm of the opposition attack. “Nishika and I kept talking about spending as much time on the wicket as possible and milking singles.

“Our batting was good, but we lacked a bit in bowling and fielding. That’s why they managed to reach 127. Our bowlers gave a bit too much flight today, which Nidhi took advantage of. If we bowl flatter on this pitch, it works much better. I know our team can do better.”
