Hosts Australia snatched a 5-4 win against India in the opening match of the five-game fixture here with as many as three goals being scored in the last quarter here on Saturday.
Both teams lived up to the billing as they produced an electrifying match, with as many as nine goals being scored in 60 minutes of entertaining hockey, leaving the weekend spectators on the edge of their seats.
For India, experienced forward Akashdeep Singh (10th, 27th, 59th) scored a hat-trick of goals and Harmanpreet Singh (31st) too impressed with his PC attack. For the home team, Lachlan Sharp (5th), Nathan Ephraums (21st), Tom Craig (41st) and Blake Govers (57th, 60+) scored to put their team ahead.
