Women’s cricket which may not be as popular as the men’s game but when it comes to the world cup, its the ladies who have the honour of playing the first ever World Cup in the history of international cricket, two years before the gentlemen played their first world cup in 1975.
A well known promoter of women's cricket in the late 1960s and 1970s, Jack Hayward, an English businessman, sponsored the first ever women's cricket World Cup with 40000 pounds and the lovely silverware
The inaugural Women’s world cup saw 7 teams - Australia, England, New Zealand, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, International XI & Young England competing for the title.
