Roger Binny, who celebrates his birthday on 19th July, is a former Indian fast-bowling all-rounder. Binny played a huge role to help India win the 1983 World Cup.

1) Roger Michael Humphrey Binny was born in Bangalore, Karnataka(then Mysore State) in 1955. 

2) Roger played multiple sports during his youth years. He once held the national record for boys in Javelin throw and represented his school in football and hockey. 

3) Binny first stepped into the limelight when he made 211 against Kerala, sharing a record unbroken 451-run opening wicket partnership with Sanjay Desai in the 1977/78 season; Karnataka declared without losing a wicket. 

4) Binny was the first Anglo-Indian to play cricket for India at the international level. 

5) The fast bowling all-rounder was the leading wicket-taker of the 1983 World Cup with 18 wickets at 18.67 and a strike rate of 29.3. 

6) Roger Binny was the coach of India's Under-19 World Cup-winning side of 2000. 

7) He also coached Bengal in Ranji Trophy, and later on became the part of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).

8) Roger Binny became the national selector in 2012.
