T20 World Cup 2021 is scheduled to be played in October-November. However, with rising cases of Covid-19, it is still not decided as to where the tournament will be played. There is a case of the World Cup being played in the UAE. 

So far, six editions of the T20 World Cup have been played; the last was held in 2016 in India.

Here's the list of five batsmen with the most runs in the T20 World Cups: 

1) Mahela Jayawardene, Sri Lanka:

Sri Lanka's legendary batsman and captain Mahela Jayawardene is the highest run-scorer in T20 World Cups. He played in five editions of the tournament in which he played 31 games where he made 1016 runs - the only player to cross the 1000 run mark. He made one century and six fifties. 

2) Chris Gayle, West Indies: 

One of the most destructive batsmen in the world, Chris Gayle is the second in the highest run-scorers list. Gayle has smashed 920 runs in 26 innings he has played across six World Cup editions. He has hit two centuries as well. 

3) Tilakratne Dilshan, Sri Lanka: 

The Sri Lankan opener has played a total of 34 innings across six World Cup editions. Dilshan scored 897 runs with the help of six half-centuries. 

4) Virat Kohli, India: 

India's star batsmen Virat Kohli has played just three T20 World Cups so far but has amassed 777 runs in 16 matches. Kohli has smashed nine half-centuries so far in the tournament. 

5) AB de Villiers, South Africa: 

South Africa's one of the best batsmen AB de Villiers has played six T20 World Cups in which he has made 717 runs. Popularly known as Mr. 360 has made five half-centuries. Although he retired in 2018 from international cricket, there are reports that he might make a comeback to play the World Cup in 2021.
