An all-round performance helped West Indies defeat Bangladesh by seven wickets in the first test match played at North Sound and took lead 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

West Indies had put themselves in a great position after they put Bangladesh to bat first and then got them bowled out for mere 103 runs inside 33 overs on the first day. Apart from captain Shakib Al Hasan's fifty, no one showed up as six batters registered ducks.

Jayden Seales and Alzarri Joseph picked three wickets each while Kemar Roach and Kyle Mayer shared two wickets each to dismantle the Bangladeshi batting lineup.

In reply, captain Kraigg Braithwaite missed out on a well-deserved century as he got out on 94 after grinding out for over 400 minutes at the crease and facing 268 balls. He got good support from Jermaine Blackwood, who scored 63 and helped West Indies get a lead of 162 runs.

Bangladesh batters this time did a bit better but not enough to challenge West Indies. Shakib scored 63, and Nurul Hasan made 64 after Mahmudal Hasan Joy scored 42 as the visitors crawled their way to put 245 runs on the board.

Roach once again proved why he's one of the all-time best bowlers in the West Indies as he registered a yet another five-wicket haul of his Test career. Alzarri once again got three wickets while Mayers struck as the hosts got a target of 84 runs to chase with more than two days to go.

It took West Indian batters 22 overs to chase down the target as Bangladesh tried to go down fighting, reducing the hosts to 3/9 at one stage. However, John Campbell and Blackwood made sure no more hiccups to get a win in the early session of day four.
