Indian fans were awaiting for a long time for a century and finally, after 1020 days, the wait ended. In their last match of the Super 4 stage and Asia Cup 2022, India posted a gigantic target of 213 runs against Afghanistan. Out of these runs, Kohli was responsible for more than half of the total. 

Virat Kohli opened for team India in this match and adopted an aggressive approach from the start. The opening pair of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli gave a great start as these two added 119 runs for the first wicket. During this, KL Rahul was dismissed was dismissed after scoring 61 runs but Virat Kohli didn't stop. Prior to this match, none of the fans including us would have expected that King's 71st century would come in the Asia Cup and that too in the T20 format.

Virat Kohli last scored an international century on November 23rd 2019 against Bangladesh but on September 8th, 2022, Virat finally put all the hype and hopes to rest as he smacked his 71st international ton. For India, Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 122 runs off just 61 balls, smacking 12 fours & 6 sixes with an impressive strike rate of 200.

India posted the highest total by any team in the Asia Cup 2022 yet, posting 212/2 runs in 20 overs. Virat Kohli unlike himself celebrated the century in a calm manner, raising his bat and kissing his ring. Team India coach Rahul Dravid came down along with the support staff and Indian players to receive the centurion, who also has posted the highest individual score by an Indian in T20Is.
