ENG vs NZ 2nd test: Joe Root has continued to impress the cricketing fraternity with his batting in tests for England. The batter recently completed 10,000 runs in test cricket and has registered yet another 150+ score against New Zealand in the ongoing 2nd test match. The former English captain surprised everyone during his knock as he played a gutsy reverse scoop shot against Tim Southee for a six!

After a 141-run partnership between Alex Lees (67) and Ollie Pope (145) for the second wicket, Joe Root joined Pope in the middle and etched a partnership of 187 runs for the third wicket. While England lost wickets on the other end, Joe Root remained unbeaten throughout Day 3 as he ended the day on 163*.

On day 4, Joe Root came out with a different intent, given that the match is moving towards a draw with just 2 days remaining in the game. Southee and Boult started proceedings for the Kiwis on day 4. Southee came on to bowl the third over of the day. 

Joe Root was on strike for the first delivery, and fearlessly reverse scooped the ace New Zealand pacer for a six. This left everyone, from commentators to all the spectators, as everyone hung their jaws low with utter surprise at a 'modern' shot the test maestro produced. Joe Root was finally dismissed by Trent Boult after scoring 176 runs.

While talking about the match, England are still going strong at 512/5 (while writing this piece), still trailing by 41 runs after opting to field first against New Zealand. England won the first test and the tourists have to win this match to stay alive in the 3-match series. This match is being played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
