The Decision Review System (DRS) was introduced for the players to have another look at the umpire's decision. DRS is generally taken in a very close call or when the team or the player is sure that the decision is wrong. However, most of the time the players are just taking a calculative guess after a brief discussion.

However, there are often scenarios when the team or the player is just curious about what happened and take a wild DRS. Most of the time, these scenarios arrive when an excited bowler wants a review and the captain doesn't want to hurt the bowler's feelings.

During the 6th match of IPL 2022, a similar thing happened when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took one of the worst DRS in the history of IPL.

The incident happened on the last ball of the 16th over when Varun Chakravarthy defended a full-length ball (almost a yorker). Bowler Harshal Patel appealed thinking the ball hit Varun's shoes.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis, who was standing at the boundary, looked at Harshal and went on to take the review. In the slow-mo, it was found that the ball hit right in the middle of the bat of Varun. It was one of the worst reviews taken by any team in the IPL. The DRS was so comical that even du Plessis had a bit of a smile on his face in the end.
