The Decision Review System (DRS) is a gamble. Most of the time, the teams take the DRS out of desperation to get a certain someone out or a batter takes it when umpires raise the finger to declare him/her out.

Speaking only about the bowling team, they try to get the best batter out and try to gamble the umpire's decision to change in their favor through DRS.

During the RCB vs LSG match, Bangalore were defending a target of 182 and had Lucknow two down early in the run chase. The next big wicket for them was of KL Rahul, who was looking in sublime touch during his 30-run knock. Rahul also crossed 6000 T20 runs during this knock.

On the last ball of the 8th over, Harshal Patel bowled a nothing delivery that went down the leg. Rahul tried to work it towards the fine leg as it was very close to the body but he missed. Harshal appealed half-heartedly and even Dinesh Karthik but the umpire signaled not out.

RCB players didn't look confident but decided to take a chance and went for the DRS. On replay, a spike was shown when the ball was near the bat. The umpire's decision was reversed and RCB's gamble worked. RCB players enjoyed the celebration while a shocked Rahul walked back to the pavilion.

KL Rahul had to depart after scoring 30 in 24 balls with the score reading 64/3 in eight overs.
