Kiran Navgire smacked 5 fours & 5 sixes against Trailblazers in her first match for Velocity in Women's T20 Challenge 2022. Watch VIDEO here.

Velocity vs Trailblazers - Chasing the highest total ever in Women's T20, 27-year old Kiran Navgire smacked a thunderous knock at a strike rate of 202.94 to keep Velocity in the hunt against a crucial match against Supernovas. 

Coming out to bat at #3 after Velocity lost Yastika Bhatia to Salma Khatun in the 5th over, Kiran Navgire stood strong on her reputation as an explosive batter. Even though the batter hadn't opened her run account when Velocity lost opener Shafali Verma in the same over, Navgire etched a partnership of 55 runs in 31 deliveries with Laura Wolvaardt for the third wicket. 

Notably, out of these 55 runs, Navgire smacked 37 runs off just 15 deliveries. The batter held one end as Velocity lost wickets on the other. The batter was finally dismissed in the 17th over by Sophia Dunkley, going back to the pavilion for a total of 69 runs in just 34 deliveries with 5 fours & 5 sixes.

Kiran Navgire started playing cricket only because she 'dreamt' of hitting sixes like MS Dhoni, ever since the Indian captain dispatched the winning six in the 2011 World Cup finals. 11 years late, in the annual Indian domestic T20 competition, Navgire came in as a guest player for Thailand. 

The explosive batter went on to smack 35 sixes in the season, the most by any batter in a single season in the tournament history. Hailing from Mire, a village in Maharashtra's Solapur district, the 27-year old smacked 525 runs with 54 fours in the season, and became the first Indian woman to make a 150+ score in T20s, smashing 162 runs in 76 deliveries against Nagaland. 

While talking about the match, Velocity captain Deepti Sharma won the toss & opted to field first against Trailblazers in the 3rd match of Women's T20 Challenge 2022. With Meghana's 73(47) and Jemimah Rodrigues' 66(44), Trailblazers posted a massive total of 190/5 in 20 overs. This match is being played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
