Cricket is a game of tactics and decisions to keep one's team ahead of the opponent in which way possible. Most of the tactics revolve around how to utilise the players in the squad to their maximum potential.

A lot of planning goes on trying to play the best playing XI that can challenge the opponent. Matchups play an important role in T20 cricket. Which bowler can be best bowled to which batter and in which situation to deploy a batter - called the entry point.

There are so many interesting big match-changing decisions that viewers see every day but some very small decisions also play a role in changing the course of the match like which end to bowl.

It might see a small decision but it plays a key role. Generally, two ends provide two slightly different conditions - sometimes the breeze is from one side that can help the new ball to swing, a rough patch on one side to help spinners, and many other things.

Another key point of the two ends is the boundary length. On most grounds, one side has a shorter boundary than the other, and teams need to keep that in mind to place their field and bowling plans according to it.

Before the first ball is bowled, the umpires ask the bowling team from they would want to begin the match.

During the RCB vs LSG IPL match, Lucknow's captain KL Rahul had set the field and everything was set but he then decided to have a revamp. Dushmantha Chameera and Rahul decided to change the bowling ends.

It was a brilliant decision since they sensed that the on-side was the short boundary for the right-handed batter in the first over and they wanted to go with the outside off-stump attack. Also, this might be a long-term decision to have a long on-side boundary for the 20th over and also for the sixth over - two overs that are most attacked by the batters in the T20 match.
