WATCH: Joe Root Makes A Kids' Day At Trent Bridge

Joe Root signed an autograph for a kid after seeing his 10-year-old self in him.

It seems that the test series against New Zealand is beginning to revive the cricket in England after it was turning pale and going nowhere. In the last two years, only one man has been consistently getting England to a competitive stage with his batting - Joe Root. 

Since January 2021, Root has scored more than 2400 runs in test cricket. There has been simply no match to Root at this moment. However, with the team's performance dipping, Root decided to step down as the captain earlier this year. 

England had a complete revamp with Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum taking charge of the things as captain and coach. However, Root is still England's best batter at the moment and he's still pushing them into competitive positions just like in the 2nd test where he once again scored a stunning 176. 

In an inconsistent world of England cricket, Root has been the only constant. And the England fans know it of all age groups, how much Root is important and there is only respect for him despite a poor team performance and him being the captain all through it. 

He has become a hero for the kids, just like he had. During the tea break on Day 4, Root met a young fan on his way back to the pavilion and gave him an autograph and that kid had a memory of a lifetime.

After the end of the day's play, Root said, "That was my 20 years ago. I used to come to test matches, hassling people to get a signature and it made my day. So any opportunity to try and put a smile on kids face is very important," to Sky Sports. 

"10-year-old me would have been buzzing, so if there's any way I can try and give that to someone else then I will," Root added.
