WATCH: Derbyshire's Leus De Plooy Smacks 19 Runs In The Last Over To Win The Match Against Yorkshire

T20 Blast 2022 - Derbyshire defeated Yorkshire by 6 wickets to register their third consecutive win, courtesy of Leus du Plooy's 48 runs in 20 deliveries.

T20 Blast 2022 - Yorkshire's Matthew Waite was unable to defend 19 runs in the final over in a rain-affected match against Derbyshire. After Yorkshire posted 175 on the board in 20 overs, which was revised to a target of 105 runs in 10 overs, Leus du Plooy emerged as the hero with his outstanding cameo, taking his team to a win. 

After Derbyshire lost their first two wickets for just 16 runs inside the first two overs, the team needed one of their batters to step up and pave the way for the team's third successive win in the ongoing T20 Blast 2022. 

Derbyshire were at 86/4 after 9 overs, requiring another 19 runs to win in the final over. All-rounder Matthew Waite, who had conceded 15 runs in his first over, was brought into the attack by Yorkshire captain Harry Brook. 

Leus du Plooy was on strike for the first delivery and smacked the right-arm fast-medium bowler for a six. The batter read the length quickly and shuffled across the crease outside the off stump, setting down on his knee while slogging the ball over the square leg on the first delivery, creating immediate pressure on the bowler. 

Waite followed it up with a wide delivery. The bowler went straighter on the second delivery as du Plooy raced down the track, smacking it towards deep square leg. The fielder stationed there committed a misfield and the batter was awarded another four. 

The batter went for a double on the third delivery, bringing the equation down to 6 runs from 3 deliveries for Derbyshire to register a win. On the last delivery, Matthew Waite went for a length delivery on the middle stump, and the batter again shuffled across the crease to smack the ball for a maximum over deep mid-wicket.

Leus du Plooy ended up as the top scorer for Derbyshire with his unbeaten 48 runs off 20 deliveries with 5 fours & 3 sixes. With this, Derbyshire defeated Yorkshire by 6 wickets with 2 balls remaining, registering their third consecutive win in the tournament.

Earlier, Derbyshire captain Shan Masood won the toss & opted to bowl first against Yorkshire in the North Group match of T20 Blast 2022. Yorkshire skipper Harry Brook scored 77 runs off 50 balls with 4 fours & 4 sixes as his team posted 175/10 in 20 overs. Mark Watt & Scrimshaw picked up 3 wickets each for Derbyshire. This match was played at Queen's Park, Chesterfield.
