WATCH: Captain Karan Sharma Leads Uttar Pradesh Into Ranji Trophy Semi-Finals With An Unbeaten 93

Uttar Pradesh defeated Karnataka by 5 wickets on day 3 of the 3rd Quarter-Final to enter the Semi-Final of Ranji Trophy 2022.

Ranji Trophy 2022 - After getting bowled out for 155 runs in the first innings, team Uttar Pradesh made an excellent comeback as they defeated Karnataka by 5 wickets to become the first team of the season to qualify for the playoffs. UP captain Karan Sharma played a match-winning knock to help his team to victory. 

Chasing a target of 213 runs, UP lost openers for just 28 runs. Captain Karan Sharma came into bat at #4 and held charge to lead his team to victory. Along with former captain Priyam Garg (52), Karan added 59 runs for the third wicket. The next two batters, Rinku Singh (4) and Dhruv Jurel (9) were dismissed in quick succession. 

However, Karan Sharma held the crease and along with Prince Yadav (33), constructed an unbeaten partnership of 99 runs for the 6th wicket, taking the team into the semi-finals. Karan Sharma remained unbeaten on 93 runs including 13 fours & a six. It is noteworthy that the skipper scored just 2 runs in the first innings.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh won the toss & opted to bowl first against Karnataka in the 3rd Quarter Final of Ranji Trophy 2022. Karnataka posted 255 runs in the first innings with the fifties from Ravikumar Samarth (57) and Shreyas Gopal (56*). In reply, UP were restricted to a total of 155 runs. 
However, Uttar Pradesh made a comeback, bowling out Karnataka for 114 runs, and went on to chase down the total with 5 wickets in hand. This match was played at KSCA Cricket Ground, Alur.
