Teams are making full use of the retire-out tactic in the T20 Blast.

It looks like the T20 cricket has finally decided to move on from the conventional tactics and has stepped into a new world of creativity. In the past two months, the talks regarding retiring a batter out have gone up which was triggered by Rajasthan Royals' decision to retire out R Ashwin during an IPL game. 

Since then, at least one more instance of 'thinking' about using this tactic came in front in IPL when Royal Challengers Bangalore's captain Faf du Plessis talked about using it. 

It seems like the revolution has begun worldwide. In the ongoing T20 Blast tournament in England, the Birmingham vs Nottinghamshire match saw two batters retiring out - Carlos Braithwaite and Samit Patel. 

In the rain-affected game, the match was reduced to eight overs per side. Birmingham batted first and the West Indian hard-hitter, Braithwaite, walked in on the last ball of the fifth over. Braithwaite scored 17 off 11 balls including two fours and a six.

However, Braithwaite got retired out before the start of the last over which was to be bowled by leg-spinner Calvin Harrison. Sam Hain arrived at the crease, who is believed to be a better-equiped batter to hit spin than Braithwaite. Although his services weren't needed as Alex Davies (14 off 4 balls) and Chris Benjamin (first ball four then out) took 18 runs off Harrison's over. 

In the second inning, chasing 99 runs, the match got too close with Nottinghamshire needing three runs off the last ball. Tom Moores was at the strikers' end having scored 20 off 13 balls including two sixes.

Samit Patel, at the non-strikers' end, decided to retire out and get Calvin Harrison, who is a fast runner. However, it wasn't needed at the end as Craig Miles bowled a perfect yorker and Moores couldn't get the ball past the third-yard circle and Birmingham managed to defeat the Notts by one run.
