KAR vs PES: Even though ace Pakistan players Shoaib Malik and captain Imad Waseem played valiant knocks, Peshawar Zalmi bowlers held their nerve to register a 2-run win in the 2nd match of Pakistan Super League 2023. A total of 390 runs were scored in the match. 

Chasing 200 runs to win, Wahab Riaz struck on the second ball of the innings as he sent back Karachi opener Sharjeel Khan for a golden duck. Karachi went on to lose 3 more wickets in the next 5 overs and were at 46/4 in 6.1 overs, looking completely out of the run chase.

However, Pakistan's most experienced batter Shoaib Malik got along with captain Imad Waseem, defied the Zalmi bowling and played them to their will. The two middle-order batters etched a partnership of 131 runs in 74 balls for the 5th wicket. But Shoaib Malik was dismissed after scoring 52 runs in the 19th over and the game slipped from Kings' grasp. 

Imad Wasim remained not out after scoring 80 runs in just 47 balls with 7 fours & 4 sixes. For Peshawar Zalmi, Wahab Riaz and James Neesham picked up 2 wickets each while Salman Irshad managed 1 wicket. 

In the first innings, 

Courtesy of explosive batting by Tom Kohler-Cadmore and a responsible fifty by captain Babar Azam, Peshawar Zalmi posted 199/5 against Karachi Kings in the 2nd match of Pakistan Super League 2023. 

While opener Mohammad Haris (10) and number 3 Saim Ayub (1) were dismissed in the 2nd over, captain Babar Azam got together with Tom Kohler-Cadmore as the duo added a majestic 139 runs in 81 balls for the 3rd wicket. 

The fantastic partnership was broken as Imran Tahir got rid of Babar in the 16th over after the latter scored 68 runs with 46 balls including 7 fours & a six. Kohler-Cadmore on the other end went on smacking, eventually finishing with a personal score of 92 runs off 50 balls with 7 fours & 6 sixes.

For Karachi Kings, Mir Hamza, Andrew Tye, Ben Cutting and Imran Tahir managed 1 wicket each.

Earlier, Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim won the toss & opted to bowl first against Peshawar Zalmi in the 2nd match of PSL 8. This match is being played at National Stadium, Karachi.
