Washington Sundar's father, M Sundar, has been staying away from his son to minimize the risk of contraction from the coronavirus which might hamper the young all-rounder's chance to travel to England next month.
Indian players are all set to reunite once again in Mumbai where they will be in quarantine for 10 days before leaving for the UK to play the World Test Championship(WTC) Final and then five test matches against England in August. BCCI has set the guidelines for the squad to have two negative reports of the Covid test on reaching Mumbai on 19th May. If any player is tested positive then it will be the end of the tour for him/her.
Sundar's father works in the income tax department in Chennai and has to go to the office two-three times a week which makes him vulnerable to catch the virus. While the 21-year-old allrounder is selected to go to England, his father has decided to stay away from him since Sundar has returned from IPL.
