India vs Sri Lanka: In the last decade, Virat Kohli was scoring runs at will. Anything he touched turned to gold. Begining his test career at the beginning of the decade, Kohli's career peaked in 2017.

After that year, Kohli for the next three years ruled around the world, scoring heaps of runs and centuries. But it seems like the curse of the 71st century has taken a new turn.

The fans were already disappointed that Virat has stopped scoring centuries - the last time he hit one was back in 2019 - and now one more thing is added to the list of which Kohli's followers will get their heartbroken - his average has come below 50 for the first time since 2017.

Even though Kohli wasn't scoring runs, fans were happy that he was scoring enough to maintain his brilliant average above 50. However, a series of low scores has finally come to bite him.

Ahead of the 2nd test against Sri Lanka, Kohli needed to score at least 43 runs to keep his average above 50. However, a low turning track didn't make things simple for Kohli.

In the first innings, he got out LBW on 23, and in the 2nd innings, Kohli was once again trapped in front for 13, totaling his score to 36 - six less than the required 43 runs. This means that Kohli's average is now 49.95 in test cricket.
