David Warner and Mitchell Marsh powered Australia to an 8 wicket win against the West Indies in their final Super 12 match of this World Cup. Australia lost opener & captain Aaron Finch (9) in the 4th over but David Warner scored unbeaten 89 runs off 56 balls with 9 fours & 4 sixes while Mitchell Marsh, batting at #3, scored 53 runs off 32 balls with 5 fours & 2 sixes to seal the win.
For West Indies, Akeal Hosein picked up 1 wicket, while Universe Boss Chris Gayle, also picked up a wicket in what is expected to be his last international match. However, none of the bowlers had an economy of less than 7 which suggests it was all too easy for the two Aussie batters. With this loss, West Indies will go below Bangladesh in the T20 ranking and will have to play Round 1 in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Meanwhile, with this win, Australia would be hoping for England to defeat South Africa in the next match and stop them at 6 points, so that Aussies can qualify with 8 points. On the other hand, this was the last international match for the T20 legend Dwayne Bravo who had officially annoucned his retirement. Chris Gayle is also expected to retire even though he hasn't announced it yet.
