In the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup in UAE, the Australian team emerged as the victors in the final after defeating New Zealand by 8 wickets.

Mitchell Marsh was adjudged the player of the match in the final match while David Warner was awarded the player of the series trophy. Let's take a look at interesting statistics from this tournament.

Trending

Most Runs

Babar Azam was the highest scorer in the tournament with 303 runs to his name. He was the only batter in the tournament to cross the 300-run-mark. He scored 4 half-centuries in this World Cup.

David Warner was second on the list while Babar Azam's opening counterpart Mohammad Rizwan finished 3rd on this list.

Highest Individual Score

Jos Buttler registered the highest individual score in the tournament by a player. His innings of 101 off 67 balls came against Sri Lanka in the 17th match of the Super 12. Buttler smashed 6 fours & 6 sixes in this inning and consequently even though other English batters failed, England was able to win the match by 26 runs.

The second-highest individual score was made by South Africa's Rassie van der Dussen (94) and the third cricketer on this list is New Zealand's Martin Guptill (93).

Most Wickets

The fastest rising all-rounder, Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga was the highest wicket-taker in the tournament even though Lanka crashed out of the tournament in the Super 12 stage. He registered 16 wickets to his name, including a hattrick.

Just 3 wickets behind him on the list, are Australia's Adam Zampa & New Zealand's Trent Boult, with 13 wickets to their name.

Dot Ball Pioneers

With T20 being a batter dominated format, bowlers' role becomes more crucial. Dot deliveries especially help in stopping the scoreboard and building up the pressure required to get a wicket.

New Zealand's fast-bowling champs Trent Boult & Tim Southee bowled 85 dot deliveries each which is a remarkable feat.

Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga comes next on the list below Southee & Boult, with 80 dot balls.

Most Boundaries

The most tempting element of T20 Cricket - Fours & Sixes. The boundaries bring the entertainment that the game has been dispersing from the past 13 years.

Jos 'The Boss' Buttler topped the chart for most sixes - smashing 13 sixes in 6 matches. Just behind him is Mohammad Rizwan with 12 sixes & D Wiese is third with 11 sixes.
